If you’re looking to learn more about our programs, you’ve come to the right place. At Drug Free Society Nepal, we provide compassionate, no-cost recovery services for individuals facing drug and alcohol challenges. Since our founding in 2011 as a non-governmental organization, we’ve remained committed to helping people rebuild their lives with dignity and support.
In 2018, we officially took over center management with a renewed mission: to offer free, community-based recovery programs. Many who come to us face financial hardship or have been turned away by their families—but they arrive determined to start again.
Our center typically houses 90–100 residents, including team members who are also on their own recovery journeys. We’ve supported over 1,250 individuals through our six-month residential self-help program, which focuses on:
Daily routine and structure
Discipline and accountability
Peer support
Personal responsibility
If you’d like to learn more about our programs, including the support we offer, feel free to contact us or visit our Facebook page to see how we’re making a difference.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve asked residents able to pay for a small contribution (Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 15,000). However, only around 27 clients are currently able to contribute, highlighting the ongoing need for external support.
We believe everyone deserves a second chance. Our programs aren’t just about sobriety—they’re about rebuilding lives. If you or someone you know is seeking help, learn more about our programs and take the first step toward a drug-free future.

We Work Together
When we work together and support one another, we build a stronger, drug-free community.
Our Inspiration
Our team shares a common experience: we are all individuals recovering from substance use disorder. Although each of us found our own path to treatment—at different times and in different ways—the reason we chose social work is simple: at one point, we needed help too. Because support made a life-changing difference for us, we deeply understand how powerful it can be when someone is trying to break free from substance challenges.
Motivated by this understanding, we started the program. Many people want to recover but cannot afford the high cost of rehabilitation. Furthermore, numerous treatment centers prioritize profit over people. That’s why we created a self-help program designed specifically to support those facing financial difficulties.
Ultimately, our mission is clear: everyone deserves a chance to recover, regardless of their financial situation. Through our programs, we strive to provide accessible, compassionate support to help build a healthier, drug-free Nepal.
Our Program
Our center follows a structured, school-like routine to keep participants engaged in their recovery journey. Daily activities promote physical, mental, and spiritual discipline.
Based on the principles of Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), the program blends theory with practice. Each day begins with exercise, yoga, meditation, educational sessions, and family time where participants share their recovery stories.
Counseling is essential in our programs, including group therapy, individual sessions, and family support. Outdoor games provide healthy recreation and stress relief.
Participants also take on daily responsibilities through work therapy, fostering honesty, accountability, and purpose. Special occasions are celebrated with games and shared meals, creating a warm, inclusive family atmosphere.
Our goal is to help individuals rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society. We are also working to establish a mental health care center to better support those facing psychological challenges, including recovery from substance use disorders.
Our Impact
Drug Free Society Nepal has supported the transformation of over 2,500 individuals, helping them lead clean, stable, and purpose-driven lives. Many now give back by participating in daycare programs, outreach efforts, and peer support—becoming living examples of recovery and resilience.
Their journeys from struggle to strength inspire others and positively impact families, communities, and the nation. No longer defined by past substance use, they have become productive members of society making a real difference.
Why It Matters
Substance use disorder affects not only individuals but also families, communities, and the future of Nepal. Many lives suffer silently, often without access to help or hope.
At Drug Free Society Nepal, we believe every life has value and everyone deserves the chance to recover and thrive. When one person breaks free, it creates a ripple effect—healing families, strengthening communities, and inspiring change.
This work matters because behind every recovery is a human story, and behind every story lies the potential to make the world better.
