Chairman’s Message: Vision & Leadership for a Drug Free Nepal
If you’re looking to learn more about our programs, you’ve come to the right place. At Drug Free Society Nepal, we provide compassionate, no-cost recovery services for individuals facing drug and alcohol challenges. Since our founding in 2011 as a non-governmental organization, we’ve remained committed to helping people rebuild their lives with dignity and support.
In 2018, we officially took over center management with a renewed mission: to offer free, community-based recovery programs. Many who come to us face financial hardship or have been turned away by their families—but they arrive determined to start again.
Our center typically houses 90–100 residents, including team members who are also on their own recovery journeys. We’ve supported over 1,250 individuals through our six-month residential self-help program, which focuses on:
Daily routine and structure
Discipline and accountability
Peer support
Personal responsibility
If you’d like to learn more about our programs, including the support we offer, feel free to contact us or visit our Facebook page to see how we’re making a difference.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve asked residents able to pay for a small contribution (Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 15,000). However, only around 27 clients are currently able to contribute, highlighting the ongoing need for external support.
What We Do
In addition to our residential recovery program, we offer a daycare program. This allows us to support more individuals in need. Our approach is holistic, structured, and compassionate.
Our program includes:
Physical exercise, yoga, and meditation
Educational classes and motivational sessions
Group and individual counseling
Family therapy and visitation time
Outdoor and indoor games, entertainment, and performances
Testimonies from senior recoverees and guest speakers
Work therapy, including daily cleaning and maintenance to promote hygiene, discipline, and responsibility
Together, these services help individuals rebuild their lives with confidence and hope.
Community Out-Reach & Sustanability
To sustain our efforts, we organize community outreach programs through four dedicated volunteer teams. These teams visit homes door-to-door to raise awareness about addiction, share information about our services, and build community support.
We gratefully accept donations in several forms:
Financial contributions
Material donations, including:
Used or unused household items
Usable clothes
Furniture
Office supplies
Groceries and provisions
Additionally, we run a small charity shop. Here, donated clothes and materials are resold to generate extra funds for the center.
Through these initiatives, we strengthen community involvement and ensure the sustainability of our programs.
